Dominican Republic applies electronic Immigration and Customs forms for travelers

November, 2020.- The Dominican State will implement, as of November 29, a new digital entry and exit form that passengers visiting the Dominican Republic must fill out. This is established by a collaboration agreement signed this Thursday by the Ministries of Tourism, Public Health and the Directorates of Customs and Migration.

“The implementation of a single digital registration form to enter and leave the country is the result of collaboration between different government entities to facilitate the immigration procedure, condensing three forms into one and using contactless technology. It also allows the Dominican authorities to have information in real time on the arrivals and departures of passengers to our country, ”said the Minister of Tourism, David Collado.

The electronic form is a modern initiative, dedicated to increasing the efficiency of immigration, customs and public health processes. Likewise, the implementation of this new process will improve the experience of foreign and Dominican passengers entering and leaving the country.

The agreement, which was carried out in a hotel in the capital, was signed by David Collado, Minister of Tourism, Plutarco Arias, Minister of Public Health and the directors of Customs, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón and Migration, Enrique García.

Through the agreement, the Customs Directorate undertakes to:

Carry out the technological development of the digital form and the operation around it, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Migration in such a way that it contains all the information contained in the forms:

  • International boarding and disembarking card.
  • Customs declaration form.
  • Affidavit of health of the traveler.

In addition to cooperating with the General Directorate of Customs, the General Directorate of Migration assumes the commitment of:

· Implement the digital form as part of its operation.

Maintain a dual physical and virtual implementation of the form until the first (1) of January of the year 2021, after which date only the digital form will be used as a means of capturing information.

· Provide the means to share the information collected in digital form to the institutions of the Dominican State involved in this agreement.

The form is accessed through the following link: https://eticket.migracion.gob.do/ and must be completed before the migration step. Once completed, provide a QR code that will be scanned by the authorities at the port of entry or by the airlines at check-in. The form can be filled out at any time, from the purchase of an air ticket to before going through Immigration. Dominican airports will have free internet so that passengers who do not fill it out before flying can do so when they arrive in the country.

On its side, the Ministry of Tourism undertakes to communicate to the corresponding public and private entities within and outside the Dominican Republic about this new medium and has made available to travelers a page with a video tutorial with instructions to complete the form, as well as a list of frequently asked questions: https://viajerodigital.mitur.gob.do/.

Between November 29, 2020 and January 1, 2021, the Dominican authorities will accept the two forms of registration to enter the country: the current one through physical forms, and the new one through the digital form. As of January 2021, the digital form will be for exclusive and mandatory use.
