Santo Domingo, RD, Thursday, July 30, 2020.- The international specialist Martín López urged the Dominican Republic to take advantage of the access offered to the markets of the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom by the “Commercial Association Program of the United Kingdom ”and cited a series of benefits that the International Trade Center (ITC) has contemplated between 2020 to 2022.
The expert intervened as main speaker in the course «Market intelligence for exporters», organized remotely, through the Zoom platform, by the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Association Dominican Exporters (ADOEXPO).
Among these benefits, López mentioned greater integration of the business sectors, a transparent and predictable business climate for exports to the United Kingdom and the European Union, the support of institutions to strengthen and adapt promotion in these markets, greater capacities to export in these places and the creation of new market opportunities.
The virtual event began with the words of Ambassador Katrina Naut, permanent representative of the Mission of the Dominican Republic to the World Trade Organization and the United Nations International Organizations, entity that had the leadership in coordinating this course.
Elizabeth Mena, president of Adoexpo and Matías Urritigoity, senior trade promotion officer of the International Trade Center (ITC) also spoke.
Among the topics that were addressed in were training, the use of 4 of the ITC tools to assess trends and requirements of foreign trade such as Trade Map, Market Access Map, Export Potential Map and ePing, which will allow the access to the technical requirements of the products that would be exported.
López made the tools of the International Trade Center available as an analysis tool to see how international markets are behaving.
The closing remarks were given by Odile Miniño, executive vice president of Adoexpo, who highlighted the importance of tools for strengthening the export sector in the Dominican Republic.
