The key to a company’s success will depend largely on maintaining motivation and commitment among employees. According to a Bumeran study conducted in 2023, 78% of Peruvians reported having experienced the feeling of burnout in their workplaces. In addition, the same study indicated that this figure represents an increase of 12% compared to 2022. Marco Huerta, an undergraduate and postgraduate professor at Le Cordon Bleu University, comments that the increase in the incidence of problems related to burnout is a reflection of the stress faced by workers in companies today.
«The well-being of employees is fundamental and has a direct impact on the productivity and success of the company. Therefore, it is important that organizations maintain a positive work environment, where employees can develop and demonstrate their skills to the fullest. Likewise, companies today also value talents with soft skills such as effective communication, adaptability, critical thinking and problem solving, emotional intelligence, among others,» said Huertas.
Against this backdrop, the Le Cordon Bleu University professor highlights 5 other advantages of keeping the work team motivated:
1. Reduced staff turnover: When employees feel valued and motivated within a company, they are less likely to look for other opportunities. This not only saves hiring costs, but also maintains consistency in work teams.
2. Improved work environment: A motivated team generates a positive and collaborative environment. Motivated employees tend to be more optimistic and proactive, which creates an organizational culture where everyone supports each other.
3. Increased innovation and creativity: Motivation drives employees to come up with new ideas and experiment with different approaches. This is essential to keep the company competitive and adaptable to market changes.
4. Commitment to quality and continuous improvement: Motivation within organizations results in a greater sense of belonging on the part of employees, who focus on performing their work optimally and seek ways to improve processes, contributing to the continuous improvement of the organization.
Finally, Marco Huertas stresses the importance of people continuing to enhance their soft skills, since the ability to communicate, adapt, identify problems, resolve conflicts and lead empathetically is key to face the challenges of a constantly changing business environment and are skills that have sustained companies in difficult times and have allowed them to grow beyond what we imagine.
