Leaders from Miami-Dade County, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, and American Airlines hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 3 to celebrate the launch of twice-weekly flights by American Airlines between Miami International Airport and Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas (GHB). MIA is now the only U.S. airport with service to Governor’s Harbour and the destination is MIA’s seventh route to the Bahamas – the most of any U.S. airport.
American’s new service operates on Tuesdays and Saturdays with Embraer E175 aircraft, complementing the airline’s winter schedule for the Bahamas that includes up to 14 daily departures to six Bahamian destinations: Freeport, George Town, Marsh Harbor, Nassau, North Eleuthera, San Salvador. This spring, American will operate more than 380 peak-day flights serving 150 destinations worldwide from MIA.
In addition to daily Miami-Nassau service, Bahamasair also offers weekly service from MIA to San Salvador, Bahamas, giving MIA more nonstop destinations in the Bahamas than any other U.S. airport.
