TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Governor Rick Scott made the following statement regarding Potential Tropical Cyclone #7, a storm system located approximately 275 miles east-southeast of Marathon, Florida. Governor Scott received a full update on the system from the Florida Division of Emergency Management and will continue to receive updates. The storm is forecasted to move into the Gulf of Mexico where further tropical development could occur.
Governor Scott said, “Floridians should monitor the weather system that is currently located south of Marathon. Right now, according to the National Hurricane Center, the biggest impact to our state will be heavy rain, but in Florida, we know how quickly weather can change. Floridians and our visitors should remain vigilant and listen to local news reports for the latest information. With the peak of hurricane season upon us, now is the time to get prepared. Make sure that you and your family have a plan in place in case of disaster.”
