Gov. Scott Announces Appointments to Multiple State Boards

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Governor Rick Scott announced 15 reappointments and 16 appointments to multiple state boards.

Valencia State College District Board of Trustees

Tracy Stockwell, 53, of Orlando, is the senior vice president and chief financial officer of Universal Orlando. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Windsor, Ontario. Stockwell succeeds Jason Crossman, and is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending May 31, 2021.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. 

Broward College District Board of Trustees 

Glorida Fernandez, 56, of Dania Beach, is the chief operating officer of HB Capital. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Miami. Fernandez is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending May 31, 2021.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. 

Santa Fe College District Board of Trustees 

Blake Fletcher, 35, of Gainesville, is the CEO of Fletcher Family Companies. He received his bachelor’s degree from Millsap College. Fletcher is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending May 31, 2021.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. 

Southwestern State College District Board of Trustees 

Mike Boose, 53, of Naples, is the director of human relations and organization development for Arthrex. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Boose is appointed to fill a vacant seat for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending May 31, 2021.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Pasco-Hernando State College District Board of Trustees

John Mitten, 47, of Brooksville, is a small business owner. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Florida State University. Mitten is appointed to a vacant seat for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending May 31, 2019.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. 

Board of Pilot Commissioners

Carolyn Kurtz, 53, of Tampa, is a harbor pilot with the Tampa Bay Pilots Association. She is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending October 31, 2021.

Brian Seuter, 50, of Fernandina Beach, is a harbor pilot with the Saint Johns River Bar Pilots. He succeeds James Winegeart and is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending October 31, 2021.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board

Armando del Valle, 58, of Miami Lakes, is the vice president of del Valle and Associates. He is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending October 31, 2021.

Justin Recca, 43, of Altamonte Springs, is the owner of Innovative Realty, LLC. He is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending October 31, 2020.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Board of Hearing Aid Specialists

Randy Ellsworth, 58, of Port Saint Lucie, is a hearing aid expert for Encore Hearing Consultants. He is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending October 31, 2020.

John Fischer, 61, of Tallahassee, is a hearing aid specialist for Hearing Lab Technology. He is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending October 31, 2018.

Leanne Polhill, 51, of Port Orange, is the owner of Encore Hearing Care. She is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending October 31, 2020.

Maria Hernandez, 83, of Melbourne, is a former administrator for PearsonVue. She is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending October 31, 2018.

Thomas Hollern, of Tallahassee, is a school supervisor for Leon County Schools. He is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending October 31, 2021.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Commission on Ethics

Daniel Brady, 70, of Miami Shores, is retired. He is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending June 30, 2019.

Kimberly Rezanka, 52, of Merritt Island, is an attorney with Cantwell and Goldman P.A. She is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending June 30, 2019.

Guy Norris, 55, of Lake City, is an attorney with Norris and Norris P.A. He is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending June 30, 2019.

Ashley Coone, 35, of Arcadia, is a president at ASC Consulting and Marketing and previously served as the DeSoto County Clerk of the Circuit Court. She fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending June 30, 2018.

James Patrick Memorial Work Incentive Personal Attendant Services and Employees Assistance Program Oversight Council

Jennifer Cannon, 45, of Saint Johns, is the director of legal affairs and human resources for East Coast Habilitation Options. She fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending at the pleasure of the Governor.

Robert Cox, 51, of Panama City, is the executive director of the Disability Resource Center of Panama City. He fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending at the pleasure of the Governor.

Florida Council on Arts and Culture

Katharine Dickenson, of Vero Beach, has been a community volunteer since 1973. She is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending December 31, 2019.

Hope McMath, of Jacksonville, is the founder and director of Yellow House, LLC. She is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending December 31, 2018.

Lois Benson, of Pensacola, is a board member of the Emerald Coast Utility Authority. She fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending December 31, 2019.

Jason Tapia, of Miami, is the owner of Building Center No. 3, LLC. He succeeds Kathryn Townsend and is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending December 31, 2021.

Maria Emilia Faedo, of Tampa, is an artist and a retired arts administrator. She succeeds Robert Judd and is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending December 31, 2018.

Lake Shore Hospital Authority 

Dr. Mark Thompson, 60, of Lake City, is a radiation oncologist with Cancer Care of North Florida. He fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending May 12, 2020.

Jay Swisher, 36, of Lake City, is the director of the public safety training center at Florida Gateway College. He fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending August 22, 2020. 

Rehabilitation Council for the Blind 

Paul Kurtz, 65, of Jacksonville, is a retired computer specialist with Fleet Readiness Center. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida Southern College and his master’s degree from Florida State University. Kurtz is appointed to a vacant seat for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending August 31, 2019.

Denise Valkema, 56, of Miami, is the current president of the National Federation of the Blind of Florida. She received her bachelor’s degree from Clearwater Christian College. Valkema is appointed to fill a vacant seat for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending August 31, 2020.

Rose Conry, 58, of Orange Park, is the chief executive officer of StaffTime Jacksonville. She also serves as a board member on CareerSource Florida. Conry is appointed to fill a vacant seat for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending August 31, 2019.

Michael Wiseman, 39, of Hialeah, is a job developer for Workforce Solutions of South Florida. He also serves as a member of the Florida Council of the Blind. Wiseman is reappointed for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending August 31, 2020.
