Avenue Planet, a UK-based virtual reality startup located at Pipeline Miami, launched a new v-commerce platform using virtual reality for an «immersive» shopping experience with Lincoln Road as the first destination. Avenue Planet, which also has offices in Barcelona, Lisbon and London, is using Miami as its US operations base. «Avenue Planet demonstrates the increased interest in Miami as an innovation destination from companies worldwide,» said Jaret L. Davis, Chair of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council. «Our tech hub distinguishes itself by providing an international focus that is missing elsewhere.»
The Miami-Dade Beacon Council provided Avenue Planet with a variety of services including helping to find Pipeline Miami, customized research and providing key business, civic and government contacts to help integrate them into Miami’s tech and entrepreneurial ecosystem. At the event held Jan. 13 at Books & Books on Lincoln Road, Avenue Planet provided a live demo to a group of business and civic officials including Miami Beach Commissioner John Elizabeth Alemán (pictured with Miami Beach Chamber President Jerry Libbin, Avenue Planet executives and Miami-Dade Beacon Council leaders), and Commissioners Micky Steinberg and Michael Grieco.
