Officials from Miami-Dade County and Canadian economy carrier Porter Airlines celebrated the airline’s launch of daily Miami-Toronto service with an inaugural ceremony at Miami International Airport on Wednesday, December 13.
Porter’s inaugural departure from MIA to Toronto Pearson International Airport was one of the airline’s first in the U.S. using its 132-seat, all-economy Embraer E195-E2 aircraft with no middle seats. Inaugural passengers received special refreshments and a voucher for future travel. Porter passengers also receive a selection of premium snacks and free beer and wine served in glassware on every flight.
Miami is one of five Florida destinations that Porter has begun serving this winter. At 603,000 passengers in 2022, Canada was MIA’s 10th-busiest international market last year, and travel between Canada and MIA is up 44% in 2023.
The new route also connects to Porter’s domestic network at Toronto Pearson, with flights available to Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, St John’s, and Winnipeg.
