Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority announces support program to revive the sector

From October 1, 2020 through January 21, 2021, organizations will have the opportunity to receive a grant to bring new events and activations to Miami Beach through the MBVCA Annual Grants Program.

«The MBVCA is dedicated to positioning Miami Beach for success, and while events will evolve over time, they are key to a bright and prosperous future,» says Steve Adkins, MBVCA President. «The annual grant program provides an opportunity for new and returning organizations to receive the funding necessary to create unique experiences for our visitors and locals.»

The MBVCA distributes grants through seven programs, each with different requirements for organizations to choose from:

-Development opportunities: a one-time grant applicable to organizations with a new or unique event that has the potential to become recurring with international and national appeal.
Motion Picture Incentive Grant Program – Created specifically to support scripted feature films, scripted television shows, documentaries, short films, television, or streaming services.

-Large Unique Special Events: For organizations with a new or unique event that has the potential to become recurring with significant appeal and includes specific hotel night needs.

-Recurring Special Events: Designed for organizations with an event that has a minimum of one year history as a successful tourism activity in Miami Beach and has received funding from MBVCA in the past.

-Special projects: exclusively for organizations with an event or program that can generate extraordinary interest and two of the three minimum requirements, including contracted hotel room nights and exposure to the media.

-Recurring special projects: developed for organizations with an event that has a minimum of one year history with the MBVCA and has maintained the eligibility criteria with a minimum requirement of contracted hotel room nights or media exposure.

-Tourism Associations: Created for non-profit organizations that have the responsibility of developing and promoting broad areas of the Miami Beach tourism industry, such as neighborhood associations, industrial service organizations, and area marketing groups throughout the year.

«Miami Beach continues to be a sought-after destination with an exceptional capacity to host events of all sizes,» adds Grisette Marcos, Executive Director of MBVCA. «We look forward to supporting organizations through our grant program as we prepare to welcome visitors to experience the best of Miami Beach.»
